Tarlovian Suggestions

Hello All!
I have gotten a couple of tips from our fellow Tarlovians lately and I wanted to share them with you guys in case you wanted to give it a whirl. I personally haven't tried either of them just yet as I am broke than a joke (and not a funny one) around this time of the year. Cheers to the season of giving! But, I plan to incorporate them after the New Year. For those of you who want to get experimenting now, here ya go!

Yaiza finds relief through a technique called Rebounding. It is an exercise that involves a trampoline like piece of equipment and forces the user to work on their stability using it. Note: Kris Carr swears by her trampoline and my chiropractor swears by the use of a yoga ball for core strengthening. So, it is no wonder that Yaiza has found some relief in the combining of these two! According to http://www.reboundair.com/33ways.htm:

"Regular rebounding can reduce your body fat, firm your arms, benefit the shape of your legs, hips and abdomen, improve your balance, stimulate your lymphatic system, protect your joints, strengthen your muscles and bones without the trauma of hitting a hard surface, provide an aerobic effect for your cardiopulmonary systems, revitalize your body when it's tired, and generally put you in a state of mental and physical wellness!"

The second tip comes from Anonymous (weird name, right?!). She has been wearing MBT shoes, which are designed to keep your body perfectly aligned while walking and thus relieving the pressure off of your lower back. When everything is lined up there is less pain because all of your parts are pulling their own wait and your lower back is no longer forced to carry the extra burden. I personally feel the best when I sit straight up and down (after building up my core strength) or when laying perfectly flat on my back (sans a pillow) so this makes perfect sense to me.
I want to thank both of you for your suggestions and I know from my research and self experimenting in general that these would improve pain. They are both focused on building up the core and aligning the body structure..this would help with pain unrelated to a Tarlov Cyst as well. ALWAYS remember when you strengthen your core, both spiritually and physically, miracles happen.

  1. Nice to see your post. I keep rebounding, I find very good for my health and very funny and my daughter too. I read that you are concerned by having a baby. In my case I got pregnant when I was 28 (my daughter is four years old right now). I found out about my Tarlov cyst this year, and now I´m pretty sure about which of all my symptons are related with the cyst and which are not. All related with the cyst is the same now and before getting pregnant, indeed, it´s better now because I starting to take care of it. Maybe it will not be the same for you but I think you would like to know it. All my problems came from intense stress situations and my personality (I can see it clearly now).
Now I saw them in your post I realize that I forgot to mention you before that I also use MBT. I have them for so long ,about two years now, it help me so much with cervical and lumbar pain, so much that in this moment that is not the main issue to care take for me. I´m completly focused in discover myself, my thoughts, my believes... I know for sure that all that is in my body is also in my mind. I would recommend having a look to Great dictionary of diseases and illnesses by Jacques Martel. This comment is getting so long... :-) Someday I would like to tell you about my story, how my body and my mind collapsed about three years ago and how it was just the beginning of a new life. All of this seems so serious, it really sounds like me. Even though the way has been tough I always think that I´m learning so many important things about life everyday that tomorrow will be better. With love, Yaiza.

  2. Hi Yaiza!
That is absolutely thrilling news for me! Did you have an epidural or did you have her naturally? I know exactly what you mean about the mind-body connection. I am actually beginning to realize the exact same thing you have already known. It has also taken me in a self discovery, spiritual direction and my life is more fulfilled now than it ever came close to being before. You are a true inspiration to me and others around you, I am sure. I would love to hear your story one day, when you have time, and about your routine for living with Tarlov. I highly recommend watching/reading The Secret...it has taken my mind/body connection to a whole new level. Glad to hear from you and I wish you a magical day!
    Love, Cheryl

  3. Hi Cheryl!
I had an epidural. Please, ask all you need to known about this. Also I would like to make a few questions about the diet. Which juicer are you using? I have read that it is important to have a good one in order to be effective. Did you buy it in Amazon? Which vegetables or fruits do you use to make your juice? Which cereals do you eat? I would ask a lot of questions about this. I think I´m going to read all your post again, they are very helpfull. As you see I´m going to start making changes in my diet and I´m full of questions.
About the mind-body connection there is a phrase from a Louise Hay book that is always in my mind since I read it: The new personality doesn´t need the old disease. It sounds so right to me. When I read that I started to understand that I
need to take care of my mind if I wanted to make permanent changes in my body and in my life. This is so fascinating.
    Love, Yaiza.

  4. Hi Yaiza!
So, glad to hear from you. Thank you so much for your inspirational quote, you have no idea how much it means to me. I was struggling this morning with a new therapy my doctor began on me yesterday called prolotherapy and my faith in it was wavering...then I got your post and your quote seemed to be just what I needed to restore the faith in myself. Thank you.

I use a Breville juicer, I origianlly got the $100 one form Amazon and it worked like a champ for over a year until it needed a new blade which costs almost the same as the juicer. It was well worth the money though. Now I have the upgraded version of the Breville that was closer to the $200 range and I am very pleased with it. My recipe for juice is:

    1 green apple
    5 leaves of romaine
    3 stalks of celery
    1-2 cucumbers
    5 leaves of kale
    2 carrots

Sometimes I will mix it up, but rarely. I try to get the variety from my diet instead. I am so glad you are going to update your diet...you will be amazed at the benefits you derive from it, both pain wise and spirit wise. Again, your post was just what I needed this morning...thank you for letting me lean on you! Love, Cheryl

    Love, Yaiza.
