Juicy Goodness!
A staple of my daily routine is juicing. I fought it for a while, like I use to fight a new workout routine. I would wake up each morning dreading having to do it; despising the fact that I had to drag down the big ass juicer, clean all my veggies, and then clean that 5 part shredding monster and put it away so I could do the same thing all over again the next day. A wonderful benefit to juicing, thankfully, is that is makes you feel like you are a kid again fairly quickly. This little juicing gift is what propelled me through the dread of having to juice for the first 3 to 4 weeks. From there I began waking up craving my morning juice, sometimes even feeling parched and drooling at the thought of having a cold glass of green in front of me. In my 6th week of jucing daily a true shift was made. I woke up, made my juice and went to work without a single thought one way or another! It had officially become my routine, just what I do. I was no longer mentally fighting it, to the contrary I had embraced it. I heard myself mindlessly walking around and telling random people about the joys of juicing while they blankly smiled at me like I was a new age hippie talking radically on that wacky tobacky. The funny thing is that I now understand all those tree hugging, mother earth loving dudes that rattle on about the truth, hugs and peace. I think I might even be one of them now. I honestly don't even think you could be a violent juicer! All that green goodness makes you feel, well, balanced.
I came across this really awesome article written by holistic health practitioner, Scott Olhgren about juicing. In describing one of the benefits of jucing, he touched upon an explaination for the length of time it would take one to notice the healing benefits of this lifestyle. He explains that the primary benefit of juicing is cellular cleansing. Cells are constantly dying and regenerating within us, using our noursihment as the building blocks for the regeneration. The idea with jucing and this nutrient dense diet is that each new cell will be regnerated as a perfect, strong cell that is more then capable of doing its job. You have to wait for each and every single cell to be regenerated and this explains why natural healing takes a while.
I thought he did a brilliant job of phrasing this. One of my main goals in this is to really discover and understand the truth about myself, my body, and the world around me. I find it incredibly helpful when I can come across an article that is written in lamens terms, so not to lead to further speculation. Speculation is the worse for me and I mentally refuse to move onto something else until I totally understand what's in front of me. My husband unaffectionately calls it 'beating a dead horse' (hate that phrase!)! Either way, now that I understand why this treatment may take a while it helps me to stay encouraged and more patient. Believe me, I could always use more patience! Check out the article for yourself at the link below:
