I was continuing on with my lessons on
http://www.naturalhealthschool/ .com and came across an interesting bit of information (well, lots of them, but this specifically relates to my topic) about a possible connection between the favorable effects of taking l-lysine. I was reading the lesson related to the nervous system and it was explaining the functions of our nerves and how they communicate. Of course, neurotransmitters are essential to this function. If our nerves become damaged it makes it more difficult for our nerves to communicate properly and they begin mis-firing and causing pain. In this lesson the following is found:
"Scientists have identified more than 50 neurotransmitters but there are certainly more. The most common are acetylcholine and adrenaline. Neurotransmitters are divided into four main groups:
- acetylcholine
- amino acids such as gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), glycine and glutamate
- monoamines such as noradrenaline, dopamine and serotonin, and
- neuropeptides (chains of amino acids) such as endorphins. "
Number 2 on the list, if you noticed, is amino acids. Guess what L-Lysine is? Yep, an amino acid. So perhaps the L-Lysine helps by supporting our nerves and helping them work more properly even when faced with something as annoying as a cyst. As I always say, I am certainly not a doctor, but I do have a brain and that appears to me to be a viable connection between the two.
I definately reccomend checking out the website listed above and going through some of the lessons. Naturally, it does try to sell you some stuff, but if you are not interested in purchasing it is fine to ignore it and simply read through the fabulous information. I heard a quip the other day about a person having a free degree from Google University...if Google started giving out degrees for real my walls would definately be covered. Thank you Google, even if you did scare the shit out of me the first day I found out I had Tarlov Cyst Disease!
