Dr. Victor Sierpina

As you may or not know, I recently went and visited Dr. Victor Sierpina in Galveston, Texas. I came about Dr. Sierpina from a lead given on The Dr. Oz Show, in an interview with Dr. Andrew Weil (love him!). It lead me to a database on The American Holistic Medical Association’s website that featured physicians who specialize in western medicine as well as alternative therapies.  I was apprehensive about my visit and didn’t want my hopes to get too high, given my track record with physicians up until that point. I am super stoked to say that I was not disappointed! Dr. Sierpina appeared in the room wearing a giant red bow tie! I don’t know why, but this immediately put me at ease. I had seen multiple pictures of Dr. Sierpina prior to my visit and in each one he was wearing something fun, such as a giant daisy in his jacket pocket. In my mind this indicated that he was human and didn’t take himself too seriously. It seems the ones that have taken on the God Syndrome are the ones that do the most damage. He spent a long time with me, asking questions about my condition as well as my diet and lifestyle. He respected what I have been doing and rather than prescribe me some pills and recommending surgery, he offered me literature on other ways of improving my anti-inflammatory diet and alternative therapies, such as Cranio-sacral and acupuncture. He tested me for nerve damage and I was more then pleased to find that I don’t have any. Whether I had any before that has healed or if I never got to point of damage in the first place is unknown to me. Either way, I am glad to know my nerves are happy and in good spirits! He was extremely interested in my case and all that I have been able to accomplish with diet and encouraged me to continue my plight. He even mentioned the possibility of writing the data up for his literature (he works within the University of Texas system)! I cannot tell you how happy that would make me if he does! Imagine doctors being educated on a safe, alternative therapy for Tarlov Cyst Disease…it would have such an amazingly positive effect for all of us sufferers and give everyone the opportunity to heal themselves in a much less invasive manner. I left the visit with a way of personally contacting Dr. Sierpina with any questions I have and a future appointment to check my levels for any deficiencies. Overall, I couldn’t have been happier with my visit and it gave me great hope to know that there still are doctors out there who genuinely care about their patients and respect the powers of both western medicine and Mother Nature. I only wish that all doctors were forced to follow Dr. Victor Sierpina around for a year before they were allowed to practice themselves. Thank you, Dr. Sierpina…for not just believing in me but for also helping me to believe in myself. You are a true doctor, by all definitions of the word.
